On September 7, 2024, the CCNRD held an electronic recycling event in Sundance collecting about 6,150 pounds of electronic waste, 18 car batteries, 22 smaller automotive batteries, and a large quanitiy of household batteries. These events prevent unwanted electronics from entering the landfill in Crook County or from being shipped to other countries. The CCNRD takes great pride in providing this service with the financial assistance of the Crook County Commissioners, City of Sundance, sponsorships from Sundance State Bank, Powder River Energy, Neiman Enterprises, Pinnacle Bank and Blakeman Propane were received as well to help offset the rising costs in recycling and allowed the CCNRD to collect items without charging to take them.
These events have taken place annually since 2016 with an average collection of nearly 8,400 pounds of waste per year and a total of over 75,400 pounds of electronic waste recycled!
